Therapy for adolescents

(tweens and teens)

Online & In-person

The pre-teen and teenage years can be tough: for them and for you.

You are taking the first step to support your adolescent. It takes a village, and we are here to help. We understand some parents and caregivers see counseling as an opportunity for adolescent empowerment, confidence building, and a safe place to have autonomy. Other parents and caregivers see counseling as a place that reflects your failures. A place where all your parenting flaws show. Regardless of your position, we are here to support your adolescent, and you. You are doing the right thing.

More than 20% of teens have seriously considered suicide (American Psychological Association, 2023). The first step to working with adolescents is understanding the plague of mental health issues impacting our youth. We know bullying, inability to build friendships, racial and cultural issues, gender expression, dating, and learning differences can negatively impact mental health. Imagine facing these issues while trying to figure out who you are and perform well at school and in extracurricular activities. Our youth need an outlet.

Maybe you are noticing:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Issues at school

  • Distancing from friends and family; isolation

  • Anger or increased frustration or irritability; aggression

  • Attitude shift

The courage to seek support leads to the care your adolescent needs.

our approach to working with adolescents

At TheraCare Las Colinas, we provide the outlet adolescents need to identify issues, process feelings, and make a plan to deal with stressors. This approach allows your adolescent to articulate stressors to you and creates opportunities for open communication and reestablishing boundaries and rules.

With your support, we prioritize your adolescent’s voice, helping them navigate challenges, and repairing the adolescent/parent dynamic.

What we will work on

Counseling can help your adolescent:

  • Increase self-esteem and self-worth

  • Decrease thoughts of self-harm

  • Develop a plan to deal with stressors at school and home

  • Develop a plan to ask family members, friends, or teachers for help

  • Verbalize issues they may be struggling to share with parents, caregivers, or school officials

We are here to support your adolescent as they grow into new phases of life.
